William Miller is best known for his failed attempts to calculate the exact date of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. Miller, after more than a few failed initial calculations, announced a new date for the Second Coming: April 18, 1844. The new April date was based on the Karaite Jewish calendar, rather then the Rabbinic calendar. The date came and went, again. Nothing. A despondent Miller gave up.
His followers, known as Millerites, foolishly decided to carry on the tradition of bad calculation, for whatever poor reason. Samuel S. Snow is an obvious example of a Millerite who obviously did not learn any life-altering lessons in spite of the repeated and very public failures by Miller. Snow still found a way and came up with yet another brand new calculation. He proclaimed it to the world on August 1844 at a camp meeting in Exeter, New Hampshire. He said that Christ would return on the tenth day of the seventh month of the present year, 1844 (based on the 2300 day prophecy in Daniel 8:14). The day obviously came and went without so much as an audible word from Jesus, never mind an earth-shattering and universally cataclysmic breakthrough of apocalyptic proportions. Most Millerites gave up hope, and quite sensibly so. Some did go on to form what is today known as the Advent Christian Church and the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The vain tradition of attempting to calculate Christ’s Second Coming is very, very prevalent in surprisingly large segments of American Christianity. Why? I have no idea. We know know neither the time, nor the place of Messiah’s return.

Revelation 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. The Remnant are those who keep the commandment, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Revelation 19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellow servant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
There was always a prophet for every age.. This age is no exception the spirit of prophecy came through those same disappointed folks who were torn.God Gave visions to a 17 yr old Girl to Encourage that bunch .
May i point out that the same remnant mention in Rev 14:12 are the same in earlier verses who would suffer tremendous persecution before Christ comes again.
