Roxbury Holiness Camp

Our two days and two nights at Roxbury Holiness Camp were incredible. Roxbury, for those who do not know, is an annual camp meeting ministry of the Brethren in Christ Church. We made it this year! We are so glad that we did! It was a great time for a number of reasons.
The first and perhaps most edifying of these reasons has everything to do with spiritual retreat. Every opportunity that we get to step out of the increasing busyness of our world to focus intentionally upon prayer, meditation, consecration, worship and God is welcomed. This was not always so. Not so long ago, in fact, I would quickly pass on opportunities for spiritual retreat because I thought my ministry and my work needed all of my time and attention. This was obviously not fruitful thinking. In fact, the opposite is true. When I ignore spiritual retreat, I suffer spiritually. I have quickly learned that my work and ministry, and more importantly the people I serve, are better served if my own spiritual life is intentionally healthy. A Weekend @ Home
My family and I spent the weekend at my father’s house. It’s the first time I’ve been home in a long, long time. It was an awesome and much needed visit, to say the least. I think this is the first Sunday in years that me and my father had off together. My dad is a pastor and church planter too (he planted and pastors Spring of Hope in Altoona, PA). So, it has been a long time since we both took a Sunday off together. This morning, we woke up late and then had breakfast on the sun porch together. It was an excellent Sunday morning! I may make a habit of it! Read more…

Cape May
I’m a bit late getting these photos online, but here are a few shots of our kids at Cape May. Cape May is an awesome place for laid-back recreation. It’s not as busy as Ocean City and the overall atmosphere is wonderful. It’s a great place for a family getaway. Incidentally, if you are looking for lodging in Cape may, I know a guy who own/rents two very, very large beach houses to individuals or groups. We stayed a block away from the beach and had all the amenities of home available to us. It was an awesome getaway. If you need one, go to Cape May and drop me a line and I’ll put you in touch with the Cape May beach house owner.
