N.T. Wright On Women in Ministry
I find it surprising that people who really camp on Titus and Timothy because of what they THINK these letters say about women in ministry are usually the same people who preach that Scripture should be allowed to interpret Scripture. Well, maybe if they stopped worrying about the doctrinal correctness of other communities so much and actually took time to let their Scripture interpret other Scriptures, perhaps they would grow in their understanding, but then again, maybe not.
At any rate, forget about those people and instead learn from N.T Wright and look towards the Bible for biblical support for women in ministry and leadership. It’s all there, in the Bible. We just have to learn how to read, interpret, and discover it. Then we can apply it in our world. It needs it.

Apparently, Piper thinks that deep knowledge of the historical setting of texts in unimportant. I suppose that sort of study doesn’t fall under the “simple reading” hermeneutic that he and others like him preach, or maybe it simply reduces his favorite/pet doctrines to something far less spectacular than he is comfortable with …
