An Inner Metro Green Sermon Series
“Hermeneutics: Everything is an Interpretation” is the title of a brand new sermon series by Shawn Anthony that starts on Sunday, August 23rd @ Inner Metro Green in Lancaster City, PA.
How we read the bible affects everything. It affects everything from our daily spiritual practices to our political expressions. Our approach to the scriptures informs our images of God and shapes our missional identities. The bible is important, obviously! The big question that this series asks is “How then should we read.” And the question doesn’t stop there! Reading requires – no, demands – interpretation. We therefore also have to ask, “How and why do we interpret?” These questions must be asked and wrestled with before we can actually apply what we find in our own world. Yes, it’s a lot of work, but this faith was never meant to be so easy.
If you have big questions about the bible, or if you can’t seem to make much sense out of popular interpretations of scripture, or if you think that faith is totally irrelevant in this day and age, then you will not want to miss this series.
Plus, I’m bringing a whiteboard! Yes, I’m going to be drawing lots of pictures! That alone will be worth the 1.5 hours you spend journeying along with us!
