Friend and fellow Facebook-er Scott Kennedy tagged me for one of those annoying yet somehow clever Facebook memes. You know what I’m talking about, right? Facebook memes. They are all the rage right now, for some odd and stupefying reason. Three quick examples of popular Facebook memes that would make social networking’s greatest hits list would include: 1.) The endless “25 Random Things” meme variants; 2.) The “Google Yourself” (Google your name and then place “(your first name) needs” in front of the first ten results); 3.) The Bucket List Facebook Meme (same plot as the movie that goes by the same name). You get the idea, right? Facebook memes like these go on and on living in a seemingly endless stream of constantly changing variation.
So, when Scott tagged me with a new meme I thought, “Why not?” I gave it a shot because the meme he tagged me with was interesting. Here’s the gist of Facebook’s “Make Your Band’s Album Cover” Meme:
Make Your Band’s Album Cover Meme
1 – Go to Wikipedia. Hit “random”
or click http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first random Wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.
2 – Go to Quotations Page and select “random quotations”
or click http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four or five words of the very last quote on the page is the title of your first album.
3 – Go to Flickr and click on “explore the last seven days”
or click http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days
Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.
4 – Use Photoshop or something similar to put it all together.
5 – Post it to FB with this text in the “caption” or “comment” and TAG the friends you want to join in.
That’s the “Make Your Band’s Album Cover” meme. Like I said, I did the meme, in one take. No kidding, this is what I ended up with after one take:
My band’s name ended up being “Church of the Beatitudes.”
My album’s name ended up being: “They Would Not Reach A Conclusion.”
The random album cover fits the band name and album title too.
Ha! I think God just spoke to me through a silly Facebook meme. Truly, God can speak through anything if God so chooses.
Meanwhile, in other distracting news:
1. I’m getting ready to go to Chestnut Hill Cafe (a block from my house!) and partake in the world’s best Tomato Bisque Soup with our IMG Worship Director (Keith!).
2. Keith is a huge fan of Charlie The Unicorn, and threatens to say “Shun the Non-believers” from the pulpit regularly.
3. I’m thinking of going to Washington and asking for a bailout for church planters. This economy is putting a huge dent in my take home and church plant bonuses.
4. The 200-pound domesticated chimpanzee that mauled his “owner’s” friend is a repeat offender, it seems. Story here.
5. This guy is the best motocross rider living on the planet today: James “Bubba” Stewart
