Ministry keeps a person very, very busy. If pastors aren’t careful they can easily become really great resources for other people, but fail those who are most important in their lives. Pastors aren’t so different from carpenters or auto mechanics in that their loved ones often miss out on the best that he/she can offer them. A pastor’s loved ones can miss out on a lot of spiritual and family nurture just like a carpenter’s house never gets fixin’ and an auto mechanic’s car never gets maintenance. I learned and I am still learning that a successful ministry and life is all about boundaries and honoring boundaries for the sakes of those we care about most.
