A growing number of web marketers and publishers send relevant products specifically for review here at Tribe (e.g. books, music, curriculum, etc.). In fact, I’m 20+ products behind at the moment! Don’t worry, I’m digging my way out! At any rate, the point I want to make at the moment is that every once in a while a sent product really, really excites me. Don’t mishear me! A lot of the products reviewed are really great and highly recommended resources (some are awful too)! It’s rare that a product sent actually excites me too! I received just such a product this morning.
I plan on writing more in depth about Kemper Crabb’s Downe In Yon Forrest: Christmas From the Middle Ages, when I have more time. For now, I’ll just say that this unique concert – which was captured live for national broadcast on PBS – beyond incredible and I’ll leave you with a quick media blurb:
Downe In Yon Forest transports the listener to the Middle Ages where ancient instruments are brought to life and long lost carols are presented as one would have experienced them in medieval Europe. Though most of the songs featured on the album were unearthed from the 1500’s, Crabb bestows an album that is as fresh and relevant as the songs have been throughout the centuries. Though some of the songs featured on Downe In Yon Forrest are considered modern Christmas favorites, these ancient songs take on a new tone as Crabb play them with authentic medieval instruments as they were first intended to be heard.
That said, a full review of the PBS concert CD/DVD (both were sent to Tribe for review) will be published very soon.
