That’s the tagline attached to what promises to be an important event for Christians today. Christianity21 is an open celebration of Emergence produced by JoPa (Tony Jones + Doug Pagitt). The roster of presenters is impressive. Speakers include: Phyllis Tickle, Diana Butler Bass, Nadia Bolz-Weber, Julie Clawson and Makeesha Fisher, and more.
Looking for descriptive abstract concerning Christianity21? The official website has one! It reads: “Living as we are in the Creative Age, we want to take advantage of the new ways to learn, exchange ideas, explore and grow. We are committed that Christianity21 utilizes the most effective adult learning practices available. To that end, Christianity21 will use an innovative format, ensuring unprecedented access to the rich resources of presenters by utilizing 21 presenters, with 21 ideas, in 21 minutes each. Christianity21 is more than just a set of presentations. The entire experience is designed to create value for the participants.”
This should be quite an event! I would love to attend, but can’t, unfortunately. That said, not everyone shares my desire and enthusiasm. Tony Jones posted a bit of negativity concerning the event to his Facebook profile earlier today. Personally, I’d consider a slam from any of the folks listed below to be a big ‘ole badge of honor. I have so much more to say about folk like these, but I’ll refrain from saying anything because I have nothing good to say. My mom taught me that lesson when I was like 5 years old or something.
