This prayer is a prayer for small groups seeking intentional times of collective thanksgiving. It is meant to be read in unison, by all present in the group. Let all partaking in this thanksgiving prayer agree: family, community, and God are blessings with which none of us could live very long without. Praise God!

When I think upon family
I am led to the the very heart of God.
It is there that we find a love unmatched.
It is there that we find joy, comfort, peace, and plenty of patience.
It is there that we find rest from the busy world outside and the refreshment we require to make a return.

When I think upon community
I am led into the very spirit of God.
It is there that we learn the art of diversity.
It is there that we embrace the spiritual practice of loving our neighbors.
It is there that we come face to face with one another.

When I think upon God
I am led to a deep, awe-inspiring, and ancient mystery that is the mind of God.
This Mystery is a lesson in humility, reverence, and wonder …
The Mystery is sacred to each of us and to the communities we represent.
The sacred randomly flashes by us each moment of every day.
The sacred is in you and all around you.
Most of all, the sacred is there for you.
